Performing fatigue analysis on nozzles using PV Elite is a simple process. Let us go through these steps to bring your fatigue information into PV Elite.
Once the Load Cases tab is active, click on the button that is next to ‘Fatigue Analysis’ and the Fatigue Pressure/Cycle Data Input screen appears. In the box at the top called ‘Number of Fatigue Case to Process,’ enter the number of cases you want considered. Then enter the pressure range and number of cycles for each range. Finally, click on the button at the bottom of the screen that says ‘Save Cases and Exit.’ At this point, PV Elite has all the information it needs to perform the fatigue analysis on any nozzles you add to your model.
Go back to the General Data Input tab where you find your model on the screen. When you add a nozzle to the vessel using the usual nozzle input screen, notice that at the bottom of screen the check box ‘Fatigue Calc ?’ Make sure this box is checked, see below:
Now, for the PD5500 and EN13445 models, the drop down list labeled ‘Weld Class’ beside the check box becomes active. Choose a suitable letter (see PD 5500 Annex C for details concerning fatigue classes). Note, class C is the least severe, and W the most severe. Enter the rest of your nozzle data, ensuring the nozzle is adequately reinforced in the normal way.
When you have finished entering your vessel data and have completed building your model, you can press the calculation button (running man). The output processor will include a fatigue analysis report. That report will contain the full analysis for all of the nozzles on which you indicated to perform fatigue analysis:

CAESAR II 2017 Is Released
CAESAR II 2017 – the industry de facto standard for pipe stress analysis – is now available commercially.
CAESAR II evaluates the structural responses and stresses of piping systems to international codes and standards. This 2017 version includes features that address many long-standing customer requests, as well as some significant industry code updates.
Technical additions include the ability to evaluate creep conditions for all piping codes using EN-13480 guidelines, and a new dialog to specify custom nozzle stiffnesses from the piping input. The version features several interface and usability improvements, including model symbols to show displacements, rotations, forces and moments, and improved display of node numbers and axial stops in piping models.

Croatian engineering and analysis specialist Numikon improves productivity 640% with Intergraph CADWorx solutions

Numikon is a Croatian engineering company specializing in the calculation and analysis of mechanical, power and process equipment and components, project engineering of process and power plants, pipe stress analysis, pressure vessel design, as well as laser scanning and laser surveying.
Numikon executed a refinery project for INA-Industrija nafte d.d., a leading oil exploration, production, refining and marketing company in Croatia. INA was looking for an efficient solution to create as-built information for their Sisak refinery, and hired a consortium of companies for the project. Numikon was chosen to execute a laser scanning survey and create as-built models of the existing refinery.
The main challenge for Numikon was that the laser survey had to be undertaken while the refinery was operating, and some of the piping was difficult to access because of its location above ground, or because it was insulated, as well as the tight deadline of the project.
With the help of CADWorx fieldPipe Professional and CADWorx Plant Professional, Numikon surveyed their part of Sisak refinery in only 49 days. Using the laser surveyed data the company created all deliverables required by INA, including:
• 3D models
• Piping isometrics
• Details of piping components (valves, pressure regulators, flanges, supports, etc.)
• Tag and nameplate details
• Details of the equipment and connected piping
• Pipe stress analysis results (including required test pressure) and pipe data (wall thickness, material properties, etc.)
